The Tree of Life, and the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil were both in the Garden of Eden, that place of beauty and abundance of all manner of beautiful flowers and delicious fruits, where Adam and Eve lived in peace and prosperity, an idyllic existence.
However, Satan, the former archangel Lucifer, who had been in Eden, the Garden of God; see Ezek.28-11/19, (altho’ addressed to the king of Tyrus), clearly is talking about Lucifer, the highest of the archangels, before his awful act of rebellion against the Most Holy God, and his `casting out of heaven down to Earth’s lower regions. He now reigns over a whole host of wicked spirits whom he coerced into rebelling with him. He also claimed the right to challenge Man whom GOD had created.
I believe this happened soon after Adam and Eve were in the Garden, innocent of the wiles of the Devil, and thus succumbed to the tempter’s lies. Thus sin and death entered the world.
GOD, who knows the end from the beginning, had foreseen what would happen, and had provided a Redeemer, JESUS CHRIST. He is the Lamb foreordained before the Foundation of the World, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
However, those redeemed in the Old Testament, were confined in Hades until the Lamb was slain at Calvary, and rose again triumphant over sin, death and Hell, when He led all the redeemed through the gates into Heaven Ps.24 (see my notes on “Life after Death”.)
Since the Cross the spirits of all those who accept JESUS CHRIST as their Saviour go straight into the presence of GOD in Heaven. What a wonderful salvation GOD has provided for those who believe His Word. There one day we will drink of the water of Life and eat of the Tree of Life which bears 12 kinds of fruit in the midst of the Garden of GOD. See Rev. 22-1/2. What a Wonderful Salvation GOD has given us.
