GOD’S Will is supreme!
One of the best tributes to the Will of GOD was given by a heathen King, after GOD had dealt with him.
Dan.4-35 “He doeth according to His Will in the armies of Heaven – and none can stay His Hand.”
Isa.46-9/10 “I am GOD and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying My counsel shall stand, and I Will do all My pleasure.”
Pray that GOD’S Will be done!
Matt.6-10 JESUS’ exhortation to us is to pray continually “Our Father in Heaven – Thy Will be done”.
John 6-38 even JESUS said, “I came not to do my own will, but the will of Him that sent Me” & Heb. 10-7/9; “Lo I come, in the volume of the book it is written of Me, to do Thy Will, O GOD.”
How much more should we be obedient to the Will of GOD ! It brings blessings !
Ezra 7-10/18 A Heathen King, Artaxerxes issued decrees for Israel “that do after the Will of their GOD”
We must be sincere in our Prayer!
Matt.7-21 “Not everyone that saith unto Me, LORD, LORD, shall enter in to the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that doeth the Will of My Father, which is in Heaven.
Ps.110-3 “Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power”
Acts.1-8 “Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you & ye shall be witnesses –“
It gives us assurance of Eternal Life!
1 John 2-17 “The world and it’s lusts passeth away, but he that doeth the will of GOD abideth for ever”
Mark 3-35 JESUS said “Whosoever shall do the Will of GOD, the same is my brother & sister & Mother”
John 7-17 “If any man will do His Will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of GOD” (or not).
GOD is Willing, but are we?
2 Pet.3-9 “GOD is not willing that any should perish but would rather all should come to repentance”
John 6-40 “This is the Will of Him that sent Me that everyone that believeth on the Son may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day”.
Matt.18-13/14 GOD has a special love for children & it is not His Will that one of them should perish”.
Eph. 6-6 “not with eye-service, as some, but as servants of Christ, doing the Will of GOD from the heart”.
Col.4-12 We need prayer “that we may stand perfect and complete in all the Will of GOD”
Rom.12-2 “Be transformed — that ye may prove what is that good & acceptable & perfect Will of GOD”
Heb.10-36 “We need Patience, that after we have done the Will of GOD, we might receive the Promise.”
1 Pet.2-15, 3-17 & 4-19 are exhortations “to suffer for doing the Will of GOD rather than for evil doing”
Phil.2-12/13 “Work out your own salvation – for it is GOD who worketh in you – to do His Will”.
1 Thess.5-16/24 v18 “In everything Give Thanks, for this is the Will of GOD in Christ Jesus concerning You! Can we do this? It is the crucial test. (Read Merlin Carruther’s “From Prison to Praise”)
Finally, the one place JESUS expressed His own Will. John 17-24/26 “Father, I Will that they whom Thou hast given Me may be with Me, – and share My Glory – and have Thy Love in them”
What a wonderful future is set before us! How we need to seek to know and to do THE WILL OF GOD
Afterthought:
Concerning 1Thess.5-18 “In everything give thanks “
If we believe that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, AND
If we believe that GOD is able to do exceeding abundantly above ALL that we ask or think, then we should be able to thank GOD in every circumstance.
We are all utterly, totally and entirely dependant on the love, grace and mercy of our wonderful and Glorious GOD for out uttermost salvation,
Therefore we have no occasion to grumble, complain about, resent or be offended about anything that happens to us, for our GOD is able to make it work out for our benefit, even if it is only spiritually, for our Home is in Heaven.
We perhaps do not always “give thanks” when things are going well, so maybe GOD has to remind us through tribulation, and then He uses it to teach us that
“IN EVERYTHING (WE SHOULD) GIVE THANKS”, FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD”
