When we are feeling discouraged, we can always turn to the Word of God for the strengthening of our hope and faith in God; we go to the foundation of our walk with God, which began with these “3-16’s”:-
John 3-16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. = “God Loved, – God gave – God sent – we believe !”
1 Tim.3-16 “Without controversy , great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory”.
2 Tim.3-16.“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that we may be perfect, fully equipped unto all good works”.
We know that we can trust the Word of God, for He said, “My Word shall never pass away ‘ Matt.24-35.
Most important is that learn to believe what GOD says; without faith it is impossible to please God. Heb.11
So faith is the key that unlocks every door that the enemy would try and shut us in with, as in Pilgrim’s Progress, once the most read book after the Bible. If you’ve never read it, you should buy a copy now or dig out the old one. The battlefield is in the mind, and we have to “cast down very imagination and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of GOD, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Cor.10-5. We must “put on the whole armour of God” as in Eph.6-11/18.
We don’t give in to depression, but recognise that it comes from the devil, and as the Bible says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” “Fight the good fight of faith”. Prov.3 has some good instructions.
To renew your heart by Bible study it is good to seek out the wonderful promises of God to us, by using a concordance, preferably a Strong’s, in which you can go to the original Heb. and Greek roots to get the full meanings, and follow themes, such as the Kingdom of God, Heaven, the Glory of God, the Love of God, your call to be a witness, and the whole plan of God to have a royal family which we are called to be, His own sons and daughters, to inherit glory, and to enjoy it for ever.
Bible study means just that knowing the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, the mystery of the Creation, the Fall, the promised Redeemer, God’s ancient people from Abraham to Moses, the Judges, the Kings, the great prophets, the coming of the Redeemer, the 3 Feasts of Israel, the Day of Pentecost and birth of the Church, the Acts and Epistles, and especially today, the coming of the Lord to us, which is near at hand, and the terrible time of judgement coming on the wicked and those that obey not God, but the glorious new Heaven and Earth reserved for us who believe In Him where we will dwell for ever as the Bride of Christ!

Finally, I particularly like this short poem from Mother Teresa – it ends with the words:-
“You see, in the Final Analysis, it is all between you and GOD;
It was never between you and them anyway.
