THE CREATION

THE CREATION: 

(1)  “In the Beginning, GOD created (Heb. “bara”) the Heavens and the Earth” !  (Gen.1-1)

Surely one of the most majestic statements in the whole of the Bible.

(2)   “In six days the LORD made (Heb.”asah”) heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is therein”. (Ex.20-11)

These two statements are not one and the same, as sometimes supposed, inasmuch as the Hebrew words bara and asah have vastly different meanings, “bara” meaning to create absolutely i.e. GOD created all things out of Himself by His own power, whilst the word “asah” has a number of meanings amongst which are “accomplish, appoint, bring forth, dress, fashion, furnish, make, bring to pass, prepare” but not “to create”, thus indicating that GOD is referring to two distinct events, clearly separated in time.

In the beginning GOD, who is perfect in all His ways, created a glorious harmonious Universe consisting of billions of galaxies with billions of stars, all of which moved in absolute mathematical precision in their courses, governed by GOD’S law of gravity, (which the scientists cannot explain) and filling Heaven with music as their radio waves rang out.   GOD also created cherubim and seraphim, archangels and angels, rank upon rank of heavenly beings as His servants for the administration of His creation

However this perfect universe was destined not to last.  From before creation, GOD had purposed to have a family of His own, a company of people who would be His sons and daughters, a people for His Name and His Praise and His Glory.  But first GOD had to try His servants, the angelic creation, to see if they would remain faithful to Him.  In process of time He made known His future plans for His own Family.

In searching the Scriptures, (for because of this same test of faith GOD has chosen to hide certain truths that can only be found by diligent searching and prayer, as in Prov. 2-1/5) we find that Lucifer, one of, if not the chief of the 3 named archangels, i.e. Lucifer, Michael & Gabriel, evidently resented GOD’S Plan, perhaps feeling that his role would be diminished, and although we do not know how long and patiently GOD may have reasoned with him, he eventually stirred up one third of the angels, whom he may have had charge over, into open rebellion against Almighty GOD, when he made his five-fold blasphemous  declaration, Isa.14-12/15 “I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD”, I will  sit upon the mount of GOD, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High”.     Ezek. 28-12/17, although addressed to the “king of Tyre”, also refers to Lucifer’s rebellion. 

This heinous act, which for the first time brought SIN into the Universe, shattered the love, joy, peace,  and harmony of Heaven, brought swift judgment, which turned Lucifer from being a glorious archangel into that old Serpent, and Dragon, that liar and murderer whom we know today as Satan the Devil, who viciously hates all mankind and is doing everything in his power, aided by the angels who fell with him, either to destroy men or to seduce them into rebelling against a Most Holy, Loving and Just GOD, and eventually lead them into a hopeless war against our LORD JESUS CHRIST when He returns in power and glory, when they will all be destroyed.        

GOD’S explosion of wrath against the awful presence of Sin, upset the whole Universe and brought desolation into our Solar system, destroying the Earth, which evidently was part of Lucifer’s domain, and upset the perfect equilibrium of the Universe, so that today we have meteorites, nova and super-nova, giant red and white dwarf stars, comets and asteroids, planets in eccentric orbits, quasars and pulsars, stars being swallowed up by “black holes”, (imaginary) worm holes, and the whole Universe gradually expanding (“fleeing from the face of Him that sits upon the Throne?”). This state of affairs will remain until sin is finally eradicated, then GOD will restore a “New Heaven & a New Earth” Rev.21.  

(Note: It is because of this expansion of the Universe that the physicists came up with their crazy, childish conclusion that therefore “once upon a time” the whole universe, galaxy upon galaxy, must all have been contained in a small ball of matter, which they call a “singularity”, which exploded in a “big bang” and by chance the Universe created itself.  Amazing.  Sounds like a good fairy story.  (Anything goes once you reject GOD as The Creator.) e.g. to quote Sir Arthur Keith, “Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation, and that is unthinkable”. Prof. D.M.S,Watson of the University of London, “Evolution itself is accepted by zoologists, not because it has been observed to occur or – can be proved by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative special creation, is clearly incredible”. Thus the god of this world hath blinded the minds of those that believe not, lrdt the glorious light of the gospel of Christ should shine upon them. 2 Cor. 4-43                                                                 

Thus we come to Gen.1v2 “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep”. (better translated “became a ruin and a desolation  Heb. tohuw & bohu; Isa.45-18 He did not create it in vain Heb. tohuw).  The destructive judgment resulting from Lucifer’s heinous sin, is here manifest. GOD has not chosen to spell out details of the previous state of the earth, its inhabitants, what became of them, (a possible explanation of the myriads of evil spirits around us which long to possess the body of man or animal) and of the kingdom over which Lucifer ruled.  Men who will not accept the simple truths of the Bible are deceived by Satan into all sorts of ridiculous hypothesis and theories about this pre-history. Hence evolution and the “big bang”.  There are two good books on this subject = “The Earth the Theatre of the Universe” by Clarence Benson and “Earth’s Earliest Ages” by Geo. Pember. 

  Isa. 24-1/5 is also referred to as covering a pre-Adamite judgment on the Earth.

 (Note: Adam was commissioned to be fruitful and replenish the Earth”).

The time has now come for GOD to prepare the Earth for its habitation by the pinnacle of His Creation, the race of mankind for whom He has waited so long, His own family upon whom He wants to lavish His love and fill with His joy and His glory. What a beautiful Earth it must have been in all its pristine glory straight from the hand of GOD after He had restored it in those six days, for His treasured possession, the joy of His heart.  An Earth filled with every good tree and bush with beautiful flowers,  luscious fruits and herbs, ready for the picking, Man given dominion over the whole Earth and every kind of animal, fish and bird, who all existed in peace and harmony together, so that a little child could have played with lions and bears with joy and without any fear of hurt. There was nothing to harm or defile in all that pure and holy state.  Surely GOD delighted to walk and talk with His son Adam in the cool of the day.

(That the first 7 days were 24 hour days is settled by the expression “there was evening and there was morning, one day”, (NOT the 1st day,- see ) . (Gen.1-v5 in the Hebrew) then a 2nd day, and so on.)

But alas !  How soon and how tragically Sin again reared its ugly head.  Satan, the fallen Lucifer, had the right to try this being who was replacing him in his own previous possession.  GOD in His all seeing Wisdom knew that He had to allow man to be tried to see if he would be faithful; knew that man must experience sin and be given the opportunity to overcome it through a Redeemer, and thus we read in 1 Pet. 1-20, “Christ was foreordained before the foundation of the World”.  Before man was even created GOD had prepared to deal with the problem of good and evil, and thus the moment Adam sinned, “Christ became the Lamb slain from the foundation of the World” Rev. 13-8, thus saving him from immediate death as no doubt Satan demanded, and extending grace to Adam for 930 years to give him plenty of time to repent, although from that moment his days on earth were numbered. 

Yet, when Adam sinned and GOD came to walk with him in the cool of the day, I believe it was with a great cry of anguish that GOD called out “ADAM, WHERE ART THOU ?”.  GOD has His heart so set on us, He so wants to pour out His great love upon us, that He was prepared to sacrifice His Only Begotten Son to save us so that He might enjoy us throughout eternity; and so although GOD had now to pass judgment on Adam for his sin, cast him out of the Garden of Eden, separate him from His Holy Presence, and cause him now to earn his bread by the sweat of his brow, yet He held out the wonderful promise of a Redeemer, the Lamb of GOD who would be born of a woman and would crush the Serpent’s head, Gen.3-15. although in so doing it would “bruise his heel”, i.e. cost Him His own life on the Cross. How we must thank GOD for His Wonderful Love in that He did not leave us but provided a Way of Salvation.

All the joys and sorrows of this life, its trial and tribulations, the good and the evil, result from Adam’s sin, and our great adversary, Satan the Devil, and his hosts of wicked spirits are sent to tempt and try us, but thank GOD, He has given us the Way of Salvation, and if we “endure to the end”, we will in the Resurrection, enjoy the glorious Millennial reign of Christ on Earth, free from the curse, “a 1000 year Honeymoon” after the Wedding of the Ages between the Lamb and His Bride, and then after the 2nd resurrection and the Final Judgment, (as in Rev.20) a New Heavens and a New Earth (totally free from sin) wherein dwelleth righteousness, and all eternity to Worship GOD in Love, Joy & Peace for ever.
