This study covers 7 names of GOD which reveal the Character & Purposes of GOD for the whole of His Creation, starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation, for the commendation of the Church that believes, but for the condemnation of the World which rejects them. They are briefly as follows
1. ELOHIM: GOD in the plural sense, 3 in 1, the Creator of the Universe and everything contained therein
2. JEHOVAH: The Self-Existent, Eternal GOD, the source of all Angelic, Human, Animal & Plant Life.
3. JEHOVAH-JIREH: The LORD will see to it. GOD has planned the ages of eternity from the beginning.
4. JEHOVAH-NISSI: The LORD our Banner. The Covenant keeping GOD, whose Word we can absolutely trust.
5. JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU: The LORD our Righteousness. Our only salvation thru’ our LORD JESUS CHRIST!
6. JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH: The LORD is thither. GOD our Father is everywhere, always able to care for us.
7. JEHOVAH-SHALOM: The LORD send Peace. JESUS will return as KING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS !!!
Commendation of these great truths brings to us the spiritual blessings of a truer worship of GOD, Love,
Wisdom, Joy, Peace and Humility, as we recognise our utter dependence on the Grace & Goodness of GOD.
On the other hand, the rejection by the World, of GOD and His Works, leads to condemnation and the utter destruction of those who oppose Him and become His enemies. Yet -there is a large body of people whom we should be praying for, so that GOD in Mercy may reap a great Harvest before the final Day of Judgment.
7 NAMES OF GOD – Study 1 (ELOHIM)
1. ELOHIM, GOD in the plural sense, the 3 in 1, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in whose image we were created.
The FATHER, Supreme, the Omnipotent One, from whose heart comes the WILL OF GOD.
The SON, Obedient, the Omniscient One, who speaks forth God’s Will as the WORD OF GOD.
The HOLY SPIRIT, the Omnipresent One, who by His Power executes the WORK OF GOD.
We see how the Godhead works together in perfect harmony and unity. Our duty is to Love GOD with all our hearts, to Worship Him, to Walk in His Ways, and to love one another in humility without dissimulation.
Gen.1-1 GOD is the Creator of the Universe and everything contained therein. Ps.146-6, Acts 14-15 & 17-24, &
Rev. 10-6. Ps.19 The Heavens declare the Glory of GOD. “In the beginning” GOD created the Universe, all of
which is made of atoms, minutely small balls of power, kept in place by electro-magnetism, while the whole Universe is governed by gravity, both of which the scientists cannot explain. He also created Cherubim & Seraphim, Archangels and rank upon rank of Angels, all to do His bidding, and to be the servants of mankind.
Heb. 1-13/14. Lastly GOD created the Earth, the jewel of His creation, the ”theatre of the Universe”, where He is working out His Great Plan to have a family of Royal Sons and Daughters who will one day rule with Him over His vast Kingdom. All the angels shouted for joy and the morning stars sang together when GOD laid the foundations of the Earth. Job 38-1/7; light waves are full of music, as are radio waves, which can be heard on a radio telescope. Before Lucifer rebelled and seduced a third of the angels with him, and shattered the beautiful harmony of a perfect Universe, GOD sat on His Throne listening to a glorious majestic choral harmony. What an awful thing it was when the archangel Lucifer, driven by pride and jealousy, led a third of the angels into rebellion, and became Satan, that old serpent and arch deceiver, who today is the source of all evil, pride, wickedness, hatred, murder and all the ills of this world. (Isa.14-13/15, Ezek.28-12/17). Thus it will remain ‘til JESUS returns, sets up His Kingdom on Earth, firstly for 1000 years, then for ever. Until that day the Earth is still under the curse, which will be lifted on the “manifestation of the Sons of GOD”. Rom. 8-19/23. Isa.45-18 He created it not “in vain” (Gen1-2).
The condemnation of GOD is on the scientists who, because the Universe is expanding, assume it must have always been so; they have no conception of it being caused by the awful act of rebellion by Lucifer and the fallen angels; so they preach their evil doctrine of the “big bang” origin of the Universe; they deny GOD as Creator, theorising with their puny, carnal, earthbound, sub-spiritual minds, of how everything “evolved” from some primordial speck of matter which blew up and the entire Universe evolved. Thus space, time and matter came into existence by pure chance! How crazy and blind they are in their wilful rejection of the Word of GOD!
They talk about “natural” laws; can laws evolve without an intelligent mind to conceive them, and a power to make them work? Thus in essence they worship a goddess called Mother Nature; this is pure idolatry! Evolution has become a doctrine and is the cause of unbelief and a World turning away from GOD and His righteous laws. Thus all those who reject GOD’S Word and deny Him as the Creator of all things can only look forward to a fiery Day of Judgment when they stand before the Great White Throne Rev, 20-12/15, unless they repent beforehand.. Many will not, Rev. 9-20/21. The wicked Ninevites repented at the preaching of Jonah, and the Philistines were terrified when the Ark of GOD, “these Mighty Gods” came into the Israelite camp, 1 Sam. 4-7.
May many turn to the LORD in the Day of Judgement and call on the Name of the LORD and find deliverance.
7 NAMES OF GOD – Study 2 (JEHOVAH)
2. JEHOVAH, the Self Existent Living GOD, “I AM WHO I AM” Ex.3-13/15, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, who are types of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Almighty, Rev.1-8. From GOD comes every person and everything that has life, and nothing exists apart from Him. As we saw in study 1, from the beginning GOD wanted a Family of Sons & Daughters and the Earth is, after the Throne of GOD, perhaps the “most valuable piece of Real Estate in the Universe”. It is the place where GOD’S own Son was born as a Man, so that we the children of men, thru’ His Sacrifice, are able to become the Royal Sons and Daughters of the Living GOD. GOD wanted the children of Israel “to be unto Him for a People, and for a Name, and for a Praise, and for a Glory”– but they would not hear!” Jer.13-11. We are “the Israel of GOD” Gal.6-16; let us not fail to hear this wondrous call of GOD.
Ps.139-14/17 tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and in GOD’S book all our members are written. GOD designed our individuality and He made us for Himself.
Let us consider the marvel of human life; from one cell at conception, in nine months to more than 6 thousand billion cells at birth, at an average rate of more than one quarter of a million cells every second, every cell directed to its designed place and function by the marvellous DNA code,. Scientists say that one cell contains all the DNA needed to make a baby; 2 inches of DNA contains more information than the British Encyclopedia! There are 50 billion atoms in one cell, and 75 trillion cells in a mature body; our brains can process millions of impulses every second, and each one of us is an absolutely unique creation in our own individuality. There are up to 1 trillion nerve cells working in the human brain, which weighs about 3 lbs., and is the most complex of all known living structure. The human body is an absolute marvel of creation; our hearts go on beating 100,000 times /day, pumping 4.75 litres of blood every hour, yet no one can say what is it’s source of power. We breathe about 25 000 times/day without being conscious of it most of the time. Men say this all happened by a process of evolution over billions of years.
“Isn’t Mother Nature wonderful?” Satan’s devotees will say anything rather than give the Glory to GOD !
Thor Heyerdahl, hero of the Kon Tiki expedition, wrote in his book, “Green was the Earth”, that the four components of protein, which is essential to human life, are totally dependent on each other for existence, and the chances of them evolving at the same precise second in time would be more than the atoms in the entire Universe! Why are the scientists so wilfully blind, and why is the World so eagerly embracing the way of Cain?
GOD also created for us a perfect world to live in, filled with beautiful scenery of mountains and lakes, trees towering high of many kinds and shapes, shrubs with beautiful flowers, and others with luscious fruits, besides all the herbs of the field, and a green carpet over all the Earth. Then there is the animal creation, all the creatures to be our friends like horses and dogs, beautiful birds and fish, all for our pleasure.
Everything that Adam and Eve needed was there for the taking, until they sinned and a curse came upon the Earth and all therein, and caused man to have to live by the sweat of his brow. It is sin that is the cause of all the evils that beset mankind, that caused the Flood, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. JESUS said, “As it was in the days of Lot, and of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of Man” Luke 17-26/30. GOD’S condemnation.
Today we are seeing a complete breakdown in morality and the GOD ordained sex relationship, far worse than it was in Sodom and Gomorrah. Though Sodomites only comprise a very small % of the population, yet the Governments of the once great Western Christian nations are bent on ”legalizing” them. In the Autumn issue of the Australian Presbyterian, is the horribly sinful story of the Satanic “Planned Parenthood” organisation’s activities; the sale of murdered baby parts for transplants and research by the medical profession! The latest Government edict to eliminate from schools all references to sexuality, i.e. there is no difference between male and female etc. and encouraging homo-sexuality, is absolutely shocking! Children who differ are indoctrinated on their error. The rebellious kings of the Earth are saying, “Let us break His bands asunder, and cast away His cords from us”. A terrible day of Judgement is coming when “He that sits in the Heaven laughs at them in derision”, and begins to pour out His judgements upon them for their wickedness! Ps.2. Read also Isa. 24-5.
The World is being readied for the Coming of Antichrist, Rev.13. Satan the devil absolutely hates mankind and that GOD made us able to reproduce; as the time of his end comes near he is doing everything in his power to degrade mankind and drag as many people as he can with him down to Hell! Let us be warned!
So how then should we behave? “JESUS said, you are the salt of the Earth and the light of the World”, Matt. 5-13/16. Therefore it us the responsibility of the Church, and that is us, to speak out against the immorality and iniquity that the Governments of the World are legalising! In so doing we may be convicted of “crimes against humanity”, and perhaps even sent to gaol! JESUS said it would be so . How much are we prepared to suffer for our faith? I feel strongly about this, that we should be speaking out on every opportunity. In a parable JESUS said to us “Occupy till I come” Luke 19-13. Rewards or judgment will follow our response to this command!
Truly we are living in the last days of this age! The next step in man’s downward path will be to legalise nudity!
7 NAMES OF GOD – Study 3 (-JIREH)
3.JEHOVAH-JIREH: “The LORD will see to it”, or “the LORD will provide”. The far seeing eye of GOD has planned the ages of eternity from the beginning, and so we can take comfort in this that no matter how things appear on the surface, GOD is in control and He is working out His Eternal Purposes for the good of His earthly creation. For all who are His children, who are to be His Royal Family, and to rule with Him over His vast Kingdom thru’ all the ages to come; in a glorious estate which is beyond our capabilities of imagining.
The Bible says “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither entered into the heart of man, the things GOD hath prepared for them that love Him” 1 Cor.2-9, Isa.64–4. These ages commenced with the original glorious, harmonious Universe, in the midst of which was the Throne of GOD, surrounded by billions of supernal heavenly beings, Cherubim and Seraphim, archangels and angels without number, all created to be the servants of GOD and His Heavenly family, i.e, Man, who was yet to be created. As we saw in study 1, this state of bliss was devastated by the heinous sin of open rebellion by Lucifer, and the third of the angels he seduced with him, in his 5 fold declaration, “I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD, I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the North, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High”. Isa.1 5-12/13. What an awful thing to rebel against a Most Holy, Just & Loving GOD! a sin which later affected Adam & Eve and the whole human race since.
The time period between the original creation and events which occurred, and v.2 of Gen.1, GOD in His Wisdom has hid from our eyes. All the false doctrines of Evolution and the “Big Bang” origin of the Universe can be disregarded as the fictional theories of sub-spiritual, earth bound carnal minds, who think in their puny way they can solve the mysteries of the Divine Creation without GOD. In saying this I am not denying in any way the great work of research scientists who by their efforts bring so much good to pass in medical and mechanical fields that have brought us in the last 200 years from “the horse & buggy age” into all the modern contrivances of today!
(Some of them not so good!) Thus we have the Age of Mankind, beginning with Adam, and the dispensations of conscience, chosen men, the Law period, Judges, Kings good and bad, Prophets, captivity etc. until the coming of the lamb of GOD to bear and take away the sin of the World, that by Grace man may be restored to GOD’s eternal purpose, become His Children, and learn to love one another and be His witnesses to those who know not GOD.
Isa.61-2 –& Luke 4-18/21 show that JESUS ministry was in two halves, the second 3-1/2 years being the “Day of Vengeance of our GOD”. This Age of Grace will soon come to an end;, GOD’S Judgment will fall on the wicked who will not repent; the righteous dead will be raised and the righteous living changed, before the Glorious Millennial Age of 1000 years, after which we enter into the New Heavens & New Earth and the bountiful Ages of Eternity. The 1000 years, as stated six times in ch.20 of Rev’n, covers the period between the 1st and 2nd resurrections, when the nations that are left will be tested for obedience, Zech.14.(see later). The book of “The Revelation of JESUS CHRIST, which GOD gave unto Him, to show unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass” Rev.1-1, also promises “Blessings to those who read, and hear and keep the things written therein v3.” We must accept this record or discard the whole book of Revelation. Whilst every O.T. prophecy concerning the 1st Coming of Christ has been fulfilled to the letter, those referring to His 2nd Coming, all the prophecies about the nations coming to Jerusalem, beating their swords into ploughshares, the wolf lying down with the lamb, everyone knowing the LORD, etc., are often regarded as only “symbolic”; (of what?) It seems Augustine ruled out a Millennium at a Church council when settling the 66 books of the Bible and it has become accepted by some sections of the Church. I believe in the Millennial Age! The following notes are from a study given in 2012.
3 The Importance and Purpose of the 1000 Year Millennial Reign of Christ on the Earth.
The Millennium is the final stage of man’s redemption before the Ages of the Ages; it is the prototype Kingdom in which the saints will be prepared to reign with our Blessed LORD, under the Father’s supreme authority, over the entire Universe, to fulfil all GOD’S plans for Eternity. In Isa. 51-16 GOD says, “I will plant the Heavens”. Can we with our finite minds imagine the immensity, majesty and glory of GOD’S Eternal Kingdom ? 1 Cor,2-9 says “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which GOD hath prepared for them that love Him”. The foretaste of this is in the Millennium !
GOD, who is absolutely thorough in all His Ways and is never in a hurry; whose ultimate aim is to have a Perfect Universe totally devoid of sin and anything and everything that defileth; will try man under the perfect conditions that will exist in the Millennium. Up to now man has failed under every dispensation, thus proving that man of himself is incapable of fulfilling the righteous requirements of GOD.
Adam was created perfect but succumbed to the temptation of the devil; the descendants of the early patriarchs who lived in near perfect conditions for 900 years or more, within 1600 years had become so wicked and corrupt that GOD had to destroy them with a flood, sparing only Noah and his family. Yet within a short time the new race again turned from GOD and sought to build its “own tower to Heaven” causing GOD to confound their language and scatter them abroad over the face of the earth. Soon after GOD called Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, from whom sprang the 12 tribes of Israel. GOD made an everlasting Covenant with them, brought them out of slavery, worked great miracles amongst them, brought them into the Promised Land, but in the end had to put them aside because of their idolatry and rejection of their true Messiah. JESUS came and instituted the New Covenant of grace and the Church which started in glory, descended into the dark ages of a corrupt priesthood which denied the Bible to others and slew those who sought it. Under grace we have had many revivals, yet today the Church of GOD is greatly divided, with much false teaching and corruption; there is now a “falling away”, and GOD’S call to us today is to remain faithful to His Word until the end and be “overcomers”. GOD is not in a hurry but thorough in all His works. In order for GOD to prove that apart from Him man is absolutely incapable of righteousness, over 1000 years GOD will give Man one more test under a reign of perfect righteousness, justice and love to those who survive the tribulation (see Zech. 14); yet when Satan is loosed at the end of 1000 years, some who have only “yielded a feigned submission”, (Ps.18-44, 66-3, 81-15 KJV margin) will rebel and will be instantly destroyed (Rev. 20), after which will come the second resurrection and the final great white Throne of Judgment., the end of sin and death for evermore. — Let us look at the Glorious 1000 yr. Kingdom in which JESUS wants us to have a part and to be kings and priests with Him. Two important events will take place at the beginning of this time.
(1) The Judgment Seat of Christ at which all believers must appear to receive rewards for their deeds, whether good or bad; 2 Cor. 5-10 & 1 Pet. 4-17, and (2) the Marriage of the Lamb to His Perfect Bride, a Glorious Church, Rev. 19-7, Eph. 5-27 and Ps. 45-6/14, S/S 2-1/13, followed by a 1000 year Honeymon!
At the start of the Millennium the Earth will be released from the curse, (there will be no more thorns and thistles) Rom.8-19/33; rivers will flow in the wilderness, and the desert shall blossom as the rose, Isa. 35-. Great convulsions will take place; the Earth may well be restored to its original 360 day year, resulting in more moderate seasons and great improvement in the climate, as before the Flood.
The following are some more Scripture references to this great Day of the LORD.
Dan. 2-44/45, 2.Tim.2-12 & Rev.5-9/10 JESUS’ Kingdom will fill the whole Earth and the saints shall rule and reign with Him over the nations left on Earth – Zech. 14-16/21 and Ps.149. & Phil.3-20/21.
In the Resurrection we will have a new body like unto His Glorious Body, which will be unlimited in regard to place, speed or time, 1 Cor. 15. Rom. 8-16/17 We shall be heirs of GOD and joint heirs with Christ.
Rom. 8-19/22 The Earth will be restored to its former glory before the Flood.
Isa. 11-5/9, Animal natures will be changed and all will be herbivorous and eat grass like the ox; they will love and care for children who will love them; none shall hurt nor destroy in all GOD’S Holy mountain. Even today we hear stories of unusual friendships between men and lions, bears and other wild animals, as GOD originally intended. (Isa.11-1/4 & Luke 4-18/21 covers JESUS’ 3-1/2 yr. earthly ministry.)
Isa.2-2/4 Mic. 4-1/3 JESUS will rule the World from Jerusalem, there the nations will come to learn the law of the LORD and to be in peace, beating their weapons into ploughshares. (Only after His visible return).
Zech.14-4 & v.16-21 The nations will come to Jerusalem to keep the feast of Tabernacles.
Isa.65-17-25 Life will be extended for the nations left on Earth, it will be a glory time for them when love, joy, peace and righteousness are the norm, and the Earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Hab.2-14 & Num. 14-21.
Mic. 4-4 Every man will sit under his own vine and fig tree. (No more living in huge apartment blocks).
As all the Old Testament prophecies of JESUS 1st Coming were literally fulfilled, so will all the prophecies re His 2nd Coming be, of which there are many more.
At the end of the 1000 years Satan will be loosed to see if everyone had learnt to love and submit to our Most Holy GOD, the final test of man before the Eternal Ages commence. Yet some will have only yielded
“a feigned submission”, will rebel against GOD and will be destroyed and cast into the lake of fire with Satan the Devil, and then the second resurrection of all those who weren’t in the 1st resurrection will take place They will stand before the Great White Throne of Judgment and those whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire, and sin and death will be no more. This is the final stage of Redemption for the human race.1 Cor 15-24.
After this the Golden Ages of Eternity, a New Heavens and a New Earth, and activities and glory beyond our wildest dreams, for those that “wait for Him” Isa. 64-4. GOD will “plant the Heavens” Isa. 51-16, and the whole Universe will become filled with the Glory of the LORD.
For ever and ever we will always worship the Lamb that sitteth upon the Throne, we will never forget His great sacrifice, but love and adore Him without ceasing. Note that of the 32 references in the New Testament to JESUS as the Lamb of GOD, 28 of them are in the Book of Revelation! JESUS is still both the LAMB OF GOD and the LION OF JUDAH. He is KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS ! Amen.
